Most Christians tend to shy away from studying Revelation and is it any wonder. Sometimes the things mentioned there are somewhat obscure and hard to understand. Still, God pronounces a blessing on he who reads and studies this book. So, what are we to make of the things written there? I would say that to swallow an elephant, you only need to do so one bite at a time and there is no doubt that understanding Revelation can be like swallowing an elephant. With that in mind, let’s take a bite out of the book with a leading question, does Revelation present two antichrists?
The antichrist of Revelation is also known as the beast which is mentioned in Revelation 13. Verse one makes a simple statement that John sees a beast rising out of the sea. Now this is not a monster coming to shore like a Godzilla movie, but a reference to the rising of a person (the antichrist) from the sea of humanity. Someone from out of the population will rise to power over ten kingdoms (crowns). It is not clear if he is a leader of one of the kingdoms or rises out of the geopolitical landscape and comes to power over the leading nations and governments around the globe. One thing is clear though, one leader rises to power over the larger nations of the world. Later in Revelation 13 we read in verse 11 that another beast rises in power. This person is credited with bringing in the mark of the beast and establishing a closed system of economy. (No one can buy or sell without the mark) The first beast according to Revelation 13 has suffered a wound to the head and recovers. The second beast causes all the world to worship the first beast, what’s this all about?
A Case for Two Antichrists
Let’s rehearse the political scene described in Revelation about the two antichrists. The first one rises to geopolitical power as a world leader and then suffers a wound to the head but recovers. A second leader rises and causes all the world to worship the first leader and then forces everyone who does not worship the first leader to be excluded from the economy and thrust aside with no means of financial ability to survive. How could something like this happen? Let me propose a possible scenario that would demonstrate how this could come to be. Let us “SUPPOSE” that Donald Trump were to run for president in 2024 and win. Let us also “SUPPOSE” that through his negotiations skills that he is able to bring the USA into a prominent place of financial stability through establishing our currency by means of linking it to the gold standard. This would make our currency very strong in the global picture of things. Let’s also “SUPPOSE” that many world leaders respect and are in agreement with his business savvy and unite with him for the purpose of “riding” his coattails to financial stability. Let’s “SUPPOSE” that by means of treaties he is able to bring all the other countries into alignment with his direction and policies. Let’s “SUPPOSE” that world leaders like where he is going with world policy and follow him willingly. Now let’s “SUPPOSE” that there is an assassination attempt on his life that mentally incapacitates him. He survives but is somewhat of a vegetable and unable to continue his work. Now, let’s “SUPPOSE” that someone like Mike Pence comes on the scene and vows to continue the wonderful work that Donald Trump has done and that he will complete the work in his name and that everyone should never forget Donald Trump and all the great work he has done to bring about global peace and prosperity to all. Now imagine that someone like Mike Pence really has ulterior motives and is in fact empowered by Satan himself and will now work to enslave the entire human race and destroy all Jews and every Christian from off the planet.
The above scenario is feasible and possible. Now I am not saying that Trump will come back and win the election and I am definitely NOT saying that Mike Pence is an evil man. I am making an easily understood example of what I think Revelation may be portraying. By using these people as examples from what we have just seen over the past 5 years that people could rally for Trump and he could do a great work if he is able to deal with his opponents. Many world leaders had a great respect for him, and he was able to do a lot of behind the scenes work that brought about a lot of good things economically for the USA. We don’t know what he could have accomplished if the media and the left hadn’t derailed his every move. There is no doubt if he is elected, he could very well be assassinated. With the amount of followers, a very smart person could carry his supporters forward and take over his work, although for evil means and purposes.
As we wait for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, it might be important to look at the geopolitical landscape and picture what events would have to take place to bring two people into power to match the scenario that I have painted from Revelation. We may see the rise of the first beast and the political powerhouse framed. We may be gone before the failed assassination attempt that incapacitates the first antichrist and opens the door for the rise of the satanically empowered man of sin and the 7 years of Tribulation and the final Day of the Lord and the return of Jesus as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
