There is no doubt that we are living in some of the strangest times to ever come across our planet. We have seen some of the most amazing technological advancements in even the last twenty years. When I was young, we did not have computers or cell phones or big screen TV, now we have self-driving cars, electric airplanes, and invisible money. Probably some of the biggest changes are in society itself. The rise of sexual expression and freedom along with the transgender movement would have shocked my dad. (May he rest in peace) Along with these changes have come a change in our government. Who would have ever thought that the government would be handing out money like it was candy? It just seems so strange that all these changes have happened almost overnight. The idea of family is under attack as an institution, respect for law enforcement is disintegrating, normal conversation between disagreeing parties have broken down and labeling everyone as raciest has become the new norm. The world I grew up in has almost disappeared. All of this, though, has Christians in somewhat of an uproar as to how to interrupt the times in which we suddenly find ourselves in.
Life was so much simpler when I was a student attending a Christian college. The world was normal, and you had the freedom to go to other college campuses and tell people about Jesus. They would listen, talk to you, and ask questions. Many were interested in the message of Jesus. Amongst Christians, there was conversation about the return of Jesus to come back to Earth and gather his church to himself and begin the final phase of judging the unbelievers and bringing in the promised Millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ. The conversations were pretty much about the Biblical forecast of the great falling away and the signing of the peace treaty with Israel as the beginning point of the 7-year Tribulation spoken about in Scripture. (The Rapture already preceding the treaty with Israel) The idea that Jesus could come at any time was the overriding belief. Nowadays, that does not seem to be the belief.
I do not watch much news on TV anymore, for obvious reasons, but I do look over a lot of YouTube videos. I have got to say that I am amazed at all the Christians who have videos trying to explain current events as completion of prophecies in Scripture. On top of that I am overwhelmed at the number of people who say they are having dreams about what is going to happen as if the Scriptures had somehow left out certain necessary details or that God is now suddenly adding to Scripture information He somehow forgot to include in the Bible. Let us not forget the date setters who insist that they know the exact time of Jesus return and are giving warning as the days roll by. Now that Israel and Hama are in an armed conflict, you would think that the war of Gog and Magog is taking place. I just can not believe the rush to somehow explain everything by prophecy or prophetic dreams and utterances. Are that many Christians really in such a panic? Have they forgotten the Scripture that says you will hear of wars and rumors of war, but let not your heart be troubled? Are we, as Christians, so busy shouting that the sky is falling that we are failing to work into the evening of this age knowing the time is short and this age is drawing to a close? The Scriptures have always admonished us to have our bags packed at all times, we know not the day or hour of His return. We are only passing through, so why cling to this world or even this country to hold on to something that was meant to pass away. I say, take a deep breath, live a normal Christian life, do the work God has before you, live daily in God’s Word, let not your heart be troubled, and keep one hand on your bags, for surely, we are closer to His return than ever before. Remember that the prophecies surrounding his return are simpler than people are making them out to be. And one last thing, try not to get focused on the all the stuff about the Tribulation, try to begin focusing on the coming Kingdom of Jesus Christ, that is far more important then knowing everything about the antichrist, don’t you think?
