Unless you have been living under a rock, I am sure there isn’t anyone that hasn’t thought about how the world is falling apart lately. Our government leaders are selling us out for their own purposes, the financial landscape is getting shaky at best, America is fast becoming a global joke and things are not getting back to normal at all. The virus is threatening to shut our country down again and supply chain problems are making life miserable. Many Christians are looking around and concluding that this is the end for sure and Jesus will just show up any day, or at least we hope so in order for all this to go away. The Scriptures certainly predict the end times as a time when people are lovers of self, boisterous, heady, and high minded. They are also disrespectful and disobedient. I am sure you are familiar with the verses describing people’s attitude in the last days. Also, the verses about as in the days of Noah, so in the days of the coming of the Son of Man. Therefore, I thought it might be expedient to go over the time line of what the Scripture is very definite about. Daniel 9:27 states that the “Man of Sin” (the antichrist) will confirm a covenant (peace treaty) with Israel for one week. (Seven years) This has historically been the verse that presents the basic belief that the 7 Year Tribulation will start with the antichrist signing a treaty with Israel. Against this foundational belief is the fact that the Rapture will take place prior to this signing of the treaty. My college professor made a rather enlightening statement when he said that the Rapture could happen days, weeks, months, or years before Dan. 9:27. Not unlike the Jewish age ending with the cutting off of Messiah. (Jesus dying on the cross) The church age is considered to have begun 60 days later at Pentecost. So, it would be conceivable that there might be a space between the timelines. If that were true, would Christians witness the rise of antichrist? Well, if you read my blog about the two antichrists, it might be possible that we could see the rise of someone who is not a Christian, but someone who may have heard the gospel but rejected it in favor of his own power. Indeed, its not outrageous to see a world leader who is concerned about the direction of their country, understand and maybe sense that God has brought them to their place of leadership, but do not and will not embrace the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. That person would be considered by God as an “antichrist”. It is fully possible that a man like Donald Trump could rise to power and bring together a massive group of people in support to the point that people would think that finally, things are going to get straightened out. I know that there were people surrounding Donald Trump and sharing the gospel with him. I know that he had a sense that God had raised him up for a purpose. There were people who were behind him and telling him as such. Many people supported him for the changes that he was going to make. It would be my thoughts that the political landscape does not show such a leader out there right now. So what would have to happen to bring us to the precipice of the Rapture?
At this point in time, I think that there is still something holding everything back and that would be the historical reputation of the United States of America and its fiercely independent people. To my way of thinking, everything that our political leaders are doing today is in an all-out effort to destroy our country in the eyes of the world and to make us a second-rate country. We must go down as a nation to enter into a one world government predicted in Scripture. Second, would be the financial economic system that would lay the groundwork for all government control…a digital currency. Now, we could all be Raptured out today and the world would march on towards the Tribulation but it would still take a few years to get from here to where the antichrist could begin to exert control over all the population. So…it makes sense to me as we read the signs of the times that even though things are getting bad, there is still a few more things that would have to happen to bring us to the edge of the Tribulation and the sure return of Jesus. I would say that you can watch for the following things over the next couple of years. First, our country is going to lose its status and power in global politics. Second, our economy will come close to crashing if not actually crashing. The financial chaos will be the cloak to bring in a digital currency with all the government connections to watch over each and every transaction. Not only the transactions, but the control that will bring to an end our very freedoms. Last, as the chaos continues, there will rise up someone who will promise to have the answers and bring us back to what we use to be. That man will garner a tremendous amount of support, but as I talked about earlier, he will be incapacitated and someone else will step in promising to carry on his good work. We may see the rise of the first man, but we won’t be here to see the rise of the next guy. So, watch for the next presidential election, you might see someone rise up promising to “fix” everything. In the meantime, you will have to wait and see if things get better or worse before Jesus comes. As for me, I think we are going to be here for a little while yet. I would encourage you to draw closer to Jesus than you ever have been. Spend more time in His Word, pray daily, fellowship with other true believers, strengthen yourself in the Lord and wait, Jesus is coming…

One Response to How close are we to the Rapture?
